The History of Law Faculty, Universitas Lampung

Regional development and population growth in Lampung Province make the need for education increase. For these educational needs, Lampung community leaders led by the Mayor/Head of Level II Municipality of Tanjungkarang-Telukbetung Zainal Abidin Pagar Alam on January 16, 1960 established a Committee for the Establishment of Expansion of Advanced Schools and Faculties. In a short time, this committee has opened a Faculty Secretariat with an office in the former Hoa Kiauw building, Jalan Hasanuddin No. 34 Teluk Betung.

As a follow-up to the results of the committee's deliberations, on February 1, 1960 the Faculty of Socio-Economic and Political Affairs was opened with the Department of Law and Economics. With the Deed of Deputy Notary M.H. Effendi No.24 dated November 23, 1960, the Lampung Higher Education Foundation was established with the task of fostering and developing the faculty into a state faculty. With the Presidential Decree of Sriwidjaja University (Unsri) No.D407/81 dated February 14, 1960, the Department of Law was designated as the Faculty of Law, Sriwidjaja University, Lampung Branch in Telukbetung.

Based on the Decree of the President of Unsri No. UP/031/C.1/1961, M. Husin Effendi, S.H. was appointed as the head of the Unsri Law Faculty, Lampung Branch. For the smooth running of lectures and with the blessing of the Unsri President, an affiliation relationship was established with the Faculty of Law, Indonesia University, Jakarta.

1965, the Lampung University was established in Teluk Betung which was later confirmed by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia No. 73 of 1966. The Faculty of Law is one of the faculties developed within the Lampung University.
